Ingredients

  • pounds ground pork
  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon dried rosemary
  • ½ teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper
  • teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork with the thyme, rosemary, sage, brown sugar, salt, pepper, nutmeg and maple syrup. Mix well.
  • Shape your patties. Shape into 16 equal size patties, about ¼ cup per patty, and flatten so that each patty is about 2½ to 3 inch in diameter.
  • Cook the patties. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sausage patties and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side or until browned.

Notes

  1. Instead of patties, you can also shape these as long sausages.
  2. Use different meat, such as ground beef, turkey or chicken. You can even combine different meats.
  3. Patties can be pan-fried, air fried or baked, but the best flavor and most traditional way is to have them fried in the pan, on the stove in vegetable oil.
  4. If you have any leftovers, you can keep them in the fridge for 4-5 days in an airtight container.
  5. Patties are easy to freeze in zippered bags with the date labeled on the outside and they will last in the freezer for about 2 months.
