Why Dump Cake?
Well, as the title says it, you basically dump all the ingredients in one baking dish and that’s it! The convenience to this cake is, you don’t need many ingredients to make it and you don’t need many tools either. Three ingredients, a few easy steps and an hour to bake it. Ta-daa! Easy-peasy.
Ingredient Notes
- Cherry Pie Filling – I love to use cherry filling because it just works so well with this cake. Other pie fillings you can use are blueberry pie filling, peach, apple, whatever you like.
- Cake Mix – I used one box of the yellow cake mix, linked in the recipe box below. You can also make your own using my recipe.
- Butter – You’ll need melted butter so it blends well with the rest of the ingredients.
How to Make Cherry Dump Cake
- Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Assemble the cake: Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle with cake mix over the cherries, evenly. Drizzle with melted butter over the surface of the cake mix. Don’t worry, you won’t have enough to drizzle over the entire surface.
- Bake: Bake for up to 1 hour or until golden brown.
- Serve: Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.
