Easy Honey Garlic Chicken Bites

This is one of those incredible dishes that you can throw together in under 15 minutes, making this perfect for that busy weeknight when you really don’t have the time or feel like slaving over a hot stove. On top of that, this is basically a pantry recipe, meaning no special trips to the grocery store.

But what’s not to love about crispy pieces of chicken tossed with a sticky honey garlic sauce that has a little bit of heat from the red pepper flakes. Totally delicious and such a crowd pleaser, no family member will be left unsatisfied. While I used chicken breasts, this recipe works just as well with chicken thighs, so your pick. Want to go even further? This sauce would be epic on chicken wings.

Why Make These Chicken Bites

freshly made honey garlic chicken bites in a skillet.
  • Incredibly Quick And Easy – Just a few pantry staples that you probably already have on hand with a 5 minute prep time and 10 minutes cooking! Can’t beat that!
  • Totally Versatile – Adjust the spices to your liking and serve how you wish. Over rice or noodles, in tacos or burritos, you name it!
  • Crowd Pleaser – This is that kind of quick dish that everyone one will love. A little bit sweet, a little bit spicy and a lot garlicky.

Ingredients You’ll Need

overhead shot of ingredients needed to make honey garlic chicken bites.
  • Chicken Breasts – You’ll want to cut up some boneless skinless chicken breasts into bite sized pieces. Chicken thighs will work just as well.
  • Cornstarch – Just a dusting of cornstarch over our chicken, this is what’s going to make our chicken super crispy as we fry it.
  • Honey – One of the star ingredients in this dish! Use your favorite honey here.
  • Garlic – What’s honey garlic sauce without the garlic. Use as much or as little garlic as you like, but the more garlic the better in my book.
  • Butter and Olive Oil – In case you’re wondering why we use both it’s because butter has lots of flavor and gives our chicken a nice golden brown color, while the oil keeps our butter from burning too quickly.
  • Chicken Broth – I always opt for a low sodium broth, or feel free to make your own.
  • Red Pepper Flakes – I love adding a few red pepper flakes in my honey garlic sauce just for a bit of heat. Use as much or as little as you like. Feel free to substitute with sriracha or your favorite hot sauce.
  • Salt And Pepper – Essential in most cooking recipes, so adjust to your preferences.
  • Parsley – Because we eat with our eyes first, so I always love to garnish my dishes with something green to make them look pretty.

How To Make Honey Garlic Chicken Bites

detailed process shots showing how to make honey garlic chicken bites.
  1. Prep the chicken. Toss the chicken cubes with the cornstarch well so that each piece is fully coated in cornstarch.
  2. Cook the chicken. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  3. Make the sauce. Meanwhile, in a small bowl combine the garlic, red pepper flakes, honey, chicken broth, salt and pepper and whisk.
  4. Toss everything together. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken in the skillet and turn down the heat to low. Toss everything together and continue cooking for a couple more minutes to allow all the flavors to meld together.
  5. Garnish and serve. Garnish with fresh parsley, sprinkle with sesame seeds if you wish, and serve immediately over rice or with a side of steamed veggies.

Expert Tips

  1. Make sure to cut 1-inch chicken pieces that are equal in size. This will ensure they cook at the same time and within the 7 minutes as instructed.
  2. Don’t overcrowd the chicken pieces in the pan, or they will not crisp up. Cook in batches if your skillet or pan isn’t big enough.

How To Serve

I love serving these chicken bites over some cooked rice, noodles and with a side of steamed veggies. However, feel free to try different sides, such as zucchini noodles, cauliflower rice, salads, couscous, etc.

Storing Leftovers

Store leftover chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. Freeze this stored in airtight containers for up to 3 months!
