Ingredients You’ll Need

Steak Marinade
- Sirloin Steak – This is a great cut of meat that stays tender when marinated and sautéed. You can also use tenderloin to make these steak bites.
- Soy Sauce – I always use a low-sodium variety to control the level of added salt.
- Olive Oil – Any type of vegetable oil will work, but I like the flavor that olive oil adds to meat.
- Sriracha – Just a bit is used to add a touch of spice, but you can omit it if you like.
Potatoes
- Baby Potatoes – Baby Yukon gold potatoes are a great choice. But any baby potatoes will work.
- Olive Oil – I like to use olive oil, but you can use any vegetable oil you like.
- Butter – Always use unsalted butter in cooking to control the level of added sodium.
- Garlic – Always use fresh garlic cloves for the best flavor. Store-bought minced garlic can sometimes have a bitter taste if it has been open in your fridge for too long.
- Italian Seasonings – This mix of dried herbs is typically a blend of basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, and marjoram. If you don’t have any Italian seasoning, you can just use a combination of whatever you have on hand or make your own using my recipe here.
- Salt – Enhances the natural flavor of the potatoes.
- Black Pepper – Used along with the salt used to season the potatoes. You can use regular or fresh ground black pepper.
How To Make Garlic Butter Steak And Potatoes
This is the best steak recipe for a quick meal that takes just a little under 30 minutes to make! All you have to do is cook the potatoes, sear some meat, and serve! Easy peasy and dinner in no time!
Marinate The Steak

The first step of this recipe is to infuse the meat with a yummy marinade. So combine the soy sauce, olive oil, and Sriracha together in a small bowl. Then add the cubed meat and set it aside while you cook the potatoes.
Cook The Potatoes

Start cooking the potatoes as the steak is marinating. To do this, heat a large skillet over medium-high and then add the olive oil and one tablespoon of butter to the pan. Next, add the potatoes and cook them for about 8 minutes or until they are nicely browned and fork-tender. If your pan is small you can do this in batches. Then transfer the potatoes to a plate and set them aside for now.
Sear The Steak

You’ll use the same skillet to cook your steak, so go ahead and add the rest of the butter to it along with the minced garlic and Italian seasoning. Then cook the mixture for just 30 seconds until it’s aromatic. Next, add the steak pieces to the pan in a single layer, but reserve any leftover marinade. Now, cook the meat over medium-high heat for one minute without touching it at all, then toss it, and sear it just one more minute.
Add The Potatoes And Finish

Once you’ve seared the cubed meat, pour the reserved marinade over the steak and cook it for yet another minute. Then add the potatoes back into the skillet and cook together with the meat until warmed through. Finally, taste the dish and season with salt and pepper if needed.
Serve And Enjoy
When the garlic butter steak and potatoes is done, transfer it to your favorite dish and garnish it with some fresh chopped parsley and Parmesan cheese if you like. Then serve it with a green veggie like my Roasted Brussels Sprouts or a salad to make it a complete meal.

How Do I Make This Dish Keto?
It’s easy to make garlic butter steak and potatoes keto. Just omit the potatoes and replace them with cauliflower and you now have a yummy keto recipe. You can also replace the potatoes with carrots too if you prefer or use a mixture of cauliflower and carrots.
Can I Use Stew Meat?
Yes! But it may not be as tender. When you buy stew meat it can be anything from cuts of round roast to chuck or sirloin. It all depends on what the butcher had on hand when it was packaged.

Expert Tips
- Use both the butter and oil. Make sure to use the olive oil with the butter. Doing so prevents the milk solids in butter from burning and becoming bitter.
- Cook the potatoes separately. You need to cook the potatoes first not only because they take longer to cook, but also because the meat needs that time to marinate.
- Don’t overcook the meat. If you like your meat well done, then go for it and cook away! But if you don’t then make sure you only cook the sirloin pieces for just a few minutes on each side.
Storage
Leftovers will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months when stored in an airtight container or freezer bag. To reheat, just put them in the microwave for about 3 minutes on medium heat. You can also reheat them in a skillet if you prefer. If frozen, thaw the leftovers out in the fridge overnight and then reheat them in the oven for about 15 minutes at 350°F (176°C).

I wouldn’t have believed the potatoes could cook so fast, but they did! 15 minutes is a bit optimistic for prep, but it took less than half an hour on the stove. I did add some onion to the recipe, and I think that halved mushrooms would be a nice addition also. Overall, this is a keeper! We both loved it and I’ll be making it again.
So glad you liked it!
I really liked this recipe but next time I must cut my potatoes same size as steak. Quick to come together .
This is one of my favorite recipes to cook for dinner. As to the potatoes, I use Yukon gold and just peel them, wash and cut them into small pieces. I had to read the recipe more than once to realize you put the steak in the marinade the first thing. In reading all of the information I understood. Just me. It does take a little time to make to get the potatoes brown and cooked. It’s a hands on dish but truly one pot. Excellent flavor. We really enjoy it. Thank you for the recipe
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it!
