Maple Pecan Overnight Oats is like a dream come true for those of us who just can’t spare a minute in the morning. This recipe is the epitome of “set it and forget it,” and let me tell you, the payoff is fantastic. We’re talking about a bowl of creamy, nutty goodness that’s just waiting to make your morning a whole lot better.

Why You’ll Love Maple Pecan Overnight Oats

  • Effortless Breakfast! The beauty of this no-cook recipe lies in its simplicity. It only requires about 10 minutes of prep time, a jar, and a handful of basic pantry ingredients.
  • Pecan Oats! It’s the perfect blend of flavors and textures, where the buttery notes of pecans, the sweetness of maple syrup, and the warmth of cinnamon seamlessly come together in layers.
  • Grab-And-Go! Maple Pecan overnight oats are the perfect solution for busy people. Simply scoop your ready-to-eat creamy oats into a to-go container and head out the door!

Ingredients You’ll Need

ingredients needed to make maple pecan overnight oats.
  • Rolled Oats: Hearty old-fashioned oats form the base of the dish.
  • Almond Milk: Adds creaminess and a subtle nutty undertone. You can also use other dairy-free options such as coconut milk, rice milk, or soy milk. Dairy milk works too if you prefer.
  • Pecans: Provide a delightful buttery crunch to every bite!
  • Maple Syrup: Contributes natural sweetness, a velvety consistency, and rich maple flavor.
  • Ground Cinnamon: Adds a touch of aromatic warmth and depth that ties all the elements together.
  • Salt: Balances the sweetness and enhances the overall dish.
  • Chia Seeds: Create a pudding-like consistency that contributes to the creaminess.

How To Make Maple Pecan Overnight Oats

Like my breakfast egg muffins, this is a great make-ahead recipe for those busy mornings when you want a delicious and filling meal without spending any time in the kitchen!

Make The Overnight Oats

process shots showing how to make maple pecan overnight oats.

Begin by evenly distributing the rolled oats in a mason jar or sealable container. Then pour the almond milk over the oats, ensuring that they are completely immersed. Next, add the crushed pecans and drizzle the maple syrup on top. Finally, add the ground cinnamon, a pinch of salt, and the chia seeds.

Now, stir everything together until well combined and fully incorporated. Then tightly seal the jar or container.

Refrigerate Overnight

You’ve completed the prep! Put the sealed container in the fridge overnight or for at least 6 hours. The maple pecan overnight oats need plenty of time to absorb the liquid and different flavors.

Serve And Enjoy

When ready, give the oats mixture another good stir for the perfect texture. At this point, if they seem too thick you can add more almond milk to reach your desired consistency.

Then scoop them out into a bowl and serve garnished with some more crushed pecans if you like!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use quick oats?

Yes, you can substitute quick oats for rolled oats. However, be mindful that they won’t be as creamy.

Are overnight oats gluten-free?

Yes, if you use gluten-free oats, and also ensure that all the other ingredients are certified gluten-free as well.

Why didn’t my overnight oats work?

Several factors may affect the outcome. You must fully immerse the oats in liquid and let them soak for at least 6 hours. It’s also important to use fresh oats, as stale oats will not absorb the liquid as well.

Expert Tips

  1. Use the right oats. Stick to rolled oats, also known as old-fashioned oats. These oats have a slightly larger surface area than quick oats, allowing them to absorb the liquid more evenly.
  2. Customize the sweetness. If you prefer a sweeter breakfast, add a bit more maple syrup. For a less sweet version, use less. You can also use honey or agave if you prefer.
  3. Adjust the consistency. If you prefer a thicker and creamier oatmeal, use slightly less milk. For a thinner texture, add a touch more milk.
  4. Toast the pecans. Tossing the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes before adding them to the oats will enhance their flavor and crunch.
  5. Experiment with toppings. Add extra flavor and texture by topping the oats with fresh fruit like banana, Greek yogurt, peanut butter, or even chocolate chips.

Storage

You can store maple Pecan overnight oats in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Before serving, just give them a stir to maintain the desired consistency.

If you prepare a larger batch for meal prep, you can store individual portions in separate jars, making it more convenient for weekday mornings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • ¼ cup pecans crushed
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
US Customary – Metric

Instructions

  • In a sealable container or mason jar, evenly distribute the old-fashioned rolled oats. Pour the almond milk over the oats, ensuring thorough saturation.
  • Add the crushed pecans to the oats mixture. Drizzle the maple syrup over the pecans and oats. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon and add a pinch of salt to enhance flavor and finally sprinkle the chia seeds.
  • Stir all ingredients until well combined and seal the container or mason jar tightly.
  • Place the sealed container in the refrigerator to allow the oats to absorb the liquid and flavors. Refrigerate overnight or for a minimum of 6 hours.
  • Before serving, stir the oats mixture to ensure uniform consistency. If the mixture appears too thick, add a small amount of milk to reach your desired consistency. Transfer to a serving bowl and, if desired, garnish with additional crushed pecans.

Tips & Notes:

  1. Milk Variations: Feel free to swap almond milk with your milk of choice, such as soy, oat, or even dairy milk for a different twist on flavor and creaminess.
  2. Sweetness Adjustments: If you prefer your oats less sweet, start with less maple syrup and adjust to taste. Conversely, if you have a sweeter tooth, a little extra drizzle in the morning won’t hurt.
  3. Nut Substitutions: Not a fan of pecans or simply out of them? No problem! Walnuts or almonds can be a great substitute, providing a similar crunch and nutty flavor.
  4. Chia Seeds: These are optional but highly recommended for an extra nutritional boost. They also help thicken the oats to a lovely texture.
  5. Texture Preferences: If you prefer your oats a bit looser, simply add a bit more milk in the morning until you reach your desired consistency.
