Ingredient Notes

Chicken Bites
- Chicken – I used boneless, skinless, chicken breasts, cut into bite size pieces. You can use different cuts of chicken for this recipe, see “FAQs & Expert Tips” for more info.
- Seasoning – Italian seasoning, onion powder, salt & pepper.
- Red Pepper Flakes – This is to add a little spice to the dish, use as much or as little as you prefer! You can also leave them out completely.
- Butter – I used unsalted to control the sodium.
Sauce
- Butter – I used unsalted as mentioned above.
- Garlic – Fresh is best! Minced.
- Chicken Broth – I prefer to use a low sodium chicken broth to deglaze the pan and to develop flavor in the sauce. A great substitute for this would be a good white wine.
- Lemon Juice – I used freshly squeezed. Use what you have.
- Hot Sauce – Use your favorite, or make your own with my homemade hot sauce recipe!
Garnish
- Parsley – We eat with our eyes first! I love using fresh chopped parsley to add a bit of bright color to the dish.
How To Make Garlic Butter Chicken Bites

- Cook Chicken: Melt the ¼ cup of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and season with the Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, onion powder and red pepper flakes. Toss well to make sure each chicken bite is fully seasoned. Cook on all sides until no longer pink and starts to brown, about 5 minutes. Transfer the chicken to a plate.
- Deglaze Pan: In the same skillet melt the remaining 2 tbsp of butter over medium-low heat. Add the garlic and cook until aromatic, around 30 seconds. Deglaze the skillet with the chicken broth, scraping all the brown bits from the bottom of the skillet. Stir in the lemon juice, hot sauce and cook for another 30 seconds. Remove from heat.
- Finish & Serve: Add the chicken bites back to the skillet and toss well with the sauce, making sure the chicken is fully coated in sauce. Garnish with parsley and serve.
FAQs & Expert Tips
FAQs
Absolutely you can! Chicken thighs, even the wings would be great for this recipe. Keep in mind though, the cook times will vary for each cut! You can also make a beef version of this recipe! Check out my garlic butter steak bites.
The most foolproof way to know when chicken is done cooking is with an instant meat thermometer. It should read between 165-175ºF when finished.
These chicken bites can be served any which way you choose! I love to serve them with a side of rice or mashed potatoes and vegetables, but you don’t have to stop there – the list is endless! They can be used as an appetizer, in pasta, salad, sandwiches, you name it!

Tips
- Don’t overcook the garlic! Garlic doesn’t need to cook for a long time. I’m talking 30 seconds to a minute tops! Burnt garlic tastes bitter and it will definitely throw off the flavor outcome of your dish!
- If there are certain seasonings that are going to make or break your taste buds feel free to switch it up! For example if the red pepper flakes are going to be too much for your palate, using rosemary or thyme is a great alternative; keeping it more on the mild side, while still adding delicious flavor!
- I recommend deglazing the pan in chicken broth or white wine because it amplifies this dish that much more.

Storing Leftover Chicken Bites
Leftover garlic butter chicken bites will last in the fridge for 3 days when stored in an airtight container.
Freezing
To extend the shelf life of your chicken bites, I recommend freezing them! Transfer the chicken to an airtight container and place in the freezer. Properly stored, it will last 4-6 months frozen.

This dish was outstanding! We grow our own garlic and it was a nice way to use it. The dish was simple and delicious, yet worthy of that restaurant presentation with the mashed potatoes. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will bemaking it again!
I’m so happy to hear you guys liked it! 🙂
Can you make this in a different pan if you don’t have a cast iron skillet? Thanks
Absolutely, a non stick pan would work best.
I’m not at cook to say the least, I followed this recipe exactly and it was WONDERFUL. This was the first recipe of yours that I followed and I’m looking forward to trying more. So glad I discovered you on IG. Thanks again for sharing 🙂

I made this tonight with a mixture of cous cous and kale and a side of green beans. Very delicious, easy and healthy! Glad I made a lot of it; I have a nice lunch for the next two days!
My family of 8 all enjoyed this, even my 2 picky eaters. Almost everyone had seconds. We tried it with mased potatoes and rice tastes delicious with both. We’ve all agreed it would be good with pasta and im thinking of trying shrimp as well. Very delicious! Thank you.
I’m so glad you guys liked it! 🙂
This was a huge hit. Easy to make. Hubby wanted a spoon for the sauce. After making the sauce and before I put the chicken back in I tossed broccoli in the pan, threw some salt on top and put a lid on it to steam for a couple minutes. Then I put the chicken back in and BOOM! Protein and Veg done! So good!
Awesome!! We are so glad you liked it 🙂
I made so many times people like it
