Easy Slow Cooker Chocolate Candy Recipe

If you’ve never made candy in your crockpot you are in for a real treat! And a super nutty chocolatey one at that! This slow cooker chocolate candy recipe is not only incredibly delicious but super easy to make. Even easier than both my Chocolate Fudge and Peanut Butter Fudge because the slower cooker does all the work for you!

In fact, you only need 4 ingredients. Just 2 types of chocolate, some peanuts, and a bit of vanilla. That’s it! However, it’s important one of those types of chocolate be white chocolate or melting chocolate for the recipe to work properly. They both have a lower melting point and melting chocolate doesn’t have any stabilizers. If you use just regular chocolate the candy will not melt as easily or come out the same. Which would be a bummer. But if you stick to the recipe it will turn out perfect.

Your whole family will love these chocolates. They are perfect for holidays. And if you’ve got kids this slow cooker chocolate candy recipe makes for a super fun day in the kitchen! The kids will love watching the chocolate transform from chips into homemade candy that they can then eat or give as gifts during the holiday season.

Why You’ll Love This Slow Cooker Chocolate Candy

  • Simple Recipe! This ridiculously easy crockpot candy recipe only requires 4 ingredients and a crockpot! And there is no prep involved. Just dump in the ingredients, melt, and mold.
  • Chocolate Peanut Deliciousness! Made with 2 types of chocolate and loaded with salty roasted peanuts, these homemade chocolate peanut clusters are unbelievably good.
  • Family Favorite! Perfect for holidays or as an everyday treat, you will win your family over with these chocolate candies. You can even make a double batch and store some in the freezer.

Ingredients You’ll Need

ingredients needed to make slow cooker chocolate candy.
  • Peanuts – You’ll need some salted peanuts for this crockpot chocolate candy. They add nutty yumminess as well as a bit of saltiness to balance the sweetness.
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate – I like to use semi-sweet chocolate chips. But you can also use dark chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips if you prefer.
  • White Chocolate – White chocolate chips are used to add a bit of richness and create a smooth texture. However, melting chocolate will also work.
  • Vanilla – Use pure vanilla extract for the best flavor.

How To Make Slow Cooker Chocolate Candy

This simple 2-step recipe is so easy and perfect for kids! All you have to do is dump everything in and let the slow cooker do its magic!

Make The Candy

To begin, put the peanuts into your slow cooker. Then pour the semi-sweet chocolate chips and white chocolate chips on top.

Now, place the lid on the slow cooker and cook the candy on Low for 2 hours. Then once the chocolate is completely melted, stir in the vanilla extract until the mixture is completely smooth.

Finish The Peanut Clusters

Next, you need to mold the slow cooker chocolate candy into clusters. To do this, drop 2 tablespoons of chocolate mixture into cupcake liners. You can also drop the spoonfuls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, wax paper, or a silicone baking mat. Just make sure to space the clusters out at least 2 inches apart. Now, transfer the candy to the refrigerator for a few hours so that it can set and fully harden. Then remove the liners and enjoy!

What Else Can I Add To The Crockpot Candy?

Anything you like! You can switch the peanuts out for almonds, pecans, walnuts, or any other nut you like. It’s also possible to replace the semi-sweet chocolate chips with other types of chocolate if you prefer. And warm spices like ground cinnamon and cardamom are wonderful with chocolate as well mix-ins like raisins, dried cranberries, or mini marshmallows.

You can even sprinkle them with a bit of sea salt. So feel free to be as creative as you want. Just remember you need to keep the amounts of the ingredients the same to ensure that the slow cooker chocolate candy turns out perfect.

Can I Make This Recipe Without A Slow Cooker?

Yes, of course! You can make it on the stovetop using the double boiler method. Just put the semi-sweet chocolate chips and the white chocolate chips into a heat-safe bowl that is big enough to sit on the rim of a large saucepan without touching the bottom. Then bring about 1 to 2 inches of water to a boil in the large saucepan.

Next, reduce the heat to bring the water to a simmer. Then place the bowl with the chocolate on top of the saucepan for about 5 to 10 minutes or until all the chocolate is completely melted. As the chocolate melts it’s crucial that you stir it often. Then once it’s melted, remove it from the heat and stir in the peanuts and vanilla.

Expert Tips

  1. Use white chocolate or melting chocolate. You must use white chocolate or melting chocolate along with regular chocolate chips for the candy to properly come together. They both have a lower melting point.
  2. Slow cook on low. Do not try to make this recipe in half the time by just melting the chocolate on Hi. You will most likely just end up with burnt chocolate candy.
  3. Use a cookie scoop. You can use a small ice cream scoop or a large cookie scoop to portion out the candy mixture. It’s a great way to make all the clusters exactly the same size.

Storage

Slow cooker chocolate candy will keep at room temperature in a cool place for about a week or in the fridge for several weeks in an airtight container. You can also freeze it for up to 5 months. However, if frozen, let it thaw out first to prevent it from breaking your teeth!
